Bench warrant put out for member of the “May Day 5”

According to court records available from the King County Superior Court, today a bench warrant was put out for Kellen M. Linnell.

Mr. Linnell is wanted for riot and malicious mischef, allegedly occurring on 5/1/2012 in downtown Seattle. During a protest of several thousand people against capitalism several windows were broken, and police allege that several police officers were assaulted as well. One cameraperson was also bloodied by a black clad protester, though no charges or suspects for that incident have been announced by police at this time.

Five people were ordered to appear before the King County Superior court at 9am today in relation to the May Day protests, including Mr. Linnell, Phillip Neel, Matthew Erickson, Meaghan Gonzales and Jason Michaels. Given that you don’t need to put out a bench warrant to arrest someone in a courtroom, at this point it appears that Mr. Linnell did not appear before the court.
